Any questions about personal training or fitness classes in Winchester?
Many people can feel nervous or intimidated about asking for help with their health and fitness. Please be assured that I treat all information in the strictest confidence. I have tried to answer some of the most common questions I get asked by my clients but if you need any information that I haven't covered, please don't hesitate to call me or send me a message and I'll be more than happy to help you. Thank you.
Do I need to be fit to get started?
Don't worry I get asked this question a lot. It doesn't matter if you've never done any structured exercise. I am here to help you no matter what level you are. We will start as gently as you need to in order for you to feel comfortable and still reach your goals.
What kind of training will we be doing?
You will find more information about each training package I offer in the Services section of my website, however the sessions will be tailored around your specific needs, likes and dislikes. Training packages could combine a mixture of cardiovascular work, resistance training, high intensity interval training, yoga, functional movement, free weights, body weight exercises, stretching, boxing, spinning classes, Barre Concept classes and incorporate a vast number of different pieces of equipment.
Will I have to do weight/resistance training?
It completely depends on what your goals are but resistance training is important as we need to make sure that we have enough lean muscle for a strong and healthy body. I will only be giving you exercises that you enjoy and will help you to reach your ultimate goals.
Will I look like a body-builder if I exercise?
Lots of my female clients ask me this question and I want to reassure you that unless you really want to bulk up and have lots of muscle you will only be doing enough resistance exercise to be toned and healthy.
Where do we train?
It is completely up to you where we train. Some people like to train in a gym, others at home and some are happy in the great outdoors. The most important thing is that we train where you feel most comfortable. We can also mix it up a little to keep things interesting. I will never ask you to train in a location that you are relaxed in.
How likely am I to reach my goals?
I can tell you will 100% certainty that if you stick to my programmes you will reach your goals. However I am also realistic and sometimes life throws things at us that can slow up our progress. All of my programmes will factor in potential stumbling blocks so we will be well prepared and far more likely to achieve your goals.
Can I bring a friend?
Absolutely, the more the merrier! Just let me know prior to the session and I can prepare for you and your friend(s).
What do I need to wear?
Before we do any training together we will meet in person to discuss your needs and we can also chat about what you can wear to our sessions. The most important thing is that you wear clothes that you can move freely in and feel comfortable wearing. I can also make recommendations if you are thinking about buying new kit.
What do I need to bring?
All you need to bring is yourself, your training kit, a water bottle and a small towel. If we are outside and it's sunny, sunscreen and a cap of some kind would be good.
How quickly can I expect to see results?
When I give you your programme we will discuss what results to expect and how quickly you can expect them. We will regularly factor in review meetings so that we can keep on track with your targets and adjust them if necessary.
I am worried I won't be able to keep it up, how hard is it?
Please don't worry about being able to keep up or about keeping going with your programme for the long term. I work with all levels of fitness and design programmes to allow people to progress at their own pace. I am here to help and educate you to make changes in your life that will last a lifetime and I'll always be here if you need more help and support.
What if I have an injury or other issue that prevents me from doing some exercise?
If you have an injury, the priority will be to work on your injury to get you up and running as quickly and safely as possible. There is lots of other work such as lifestyle changes, nutrition and mind-set that we can work on to keep you on track with your long term goals.
What happens when I am away on holiday?
Before we embark on your training programme I will ask you when your holiday is and will give you tips and tricks to keep you on track while you are away and still have fun!
